PRESENTATION
“When a child learns to walk, he falls 50 times but he never says to himself: maybe I'm not made for this?"
The Kensington Street Defense is a street defense school based in London.
Our sole objective is to enable all our trainees to defend themselves in the street against 1 or more armed and unarmed attackers.
Based on our experiences and without any pretension, we are convinced that street defense involves mastering and learning the different combat distances with the use of simple and effective defense and attack techniques not authorized in others. combat sports or martial arts.
In street fights, there are no rules, the aggressor can attack you at any time, alone or with others, armed or unarmed and above all without warning and by surprise effects.
We have organized and structured our training sessions in order to create automatisms and a useful and essential state of mind in real situations of aggression.
Our DNA
OUR METHOD
“Truth is alive and therefore changing. You must be ready to throw away what you already know and have the curiosity to explore new paths” Bruce Lee"
We first explain to our students the attitudes and observations necessary to have in everyday life in order to anticipate and prevent certain attacks.
Anticipation and vigilance are essential points for one's own personal protection.
We learn to study the psychology and body language of an aggressor, to talk to him and to negotiate while being ready to defend ourselves.
If the flight or the negotiation failed, our only objective thanks to the automation of simple and effective technique will be to neutralize and to strike the aggressor in the sensitive and vital points to know;
Throat, face, eyes, ears, private parts, shins, knees.
Always remember that the only rule in the street is that there are no rules and that in a situation of aggression everything is also allowed to defend yourself and save your life...even the use of objects handy… (legal framework for self-defence).
It is for these reasons that our concept of street defense and our learning take into account this great difference by including mainly all its techniques and its so-called illegal strikes unlike other combat sports or martial arts which are controlled and framed by rules. and bonds.
OUR CONCEPT
“The more we learn, the more we see that we don't know a lot of things”
Our Street Defense concept primarily takes into account combat distances and the use of so-called illegal techniques at all combat distances by working on the different transition phases.
Our priority in close combat, in second distance or on the ground will always be to seek maximum efficiency by being conditioned to hit in the sensitive parts vital points to at least get out of the dangerous situation run and shout for help.
Sports are generally classified into 3 main families:
Combat sports (MMA, Boxing, Kick-Boxing, Muay thai, Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu)
Martial Arts (Kung-Fu, Taekwondo, Karate, Aikido, Judo)
Self-defense, Close Combat (Krav-maga, Penchak silat, Kali escrima, Kalah system)
We refuse to affirm that certain disciplines are better than others, on the contrary, they are complementary to each other for defense and protection in the street.
IN THE STREET
"When the clap of thunder bursts, it is too late to cover your ears”
DISTANCE 1
On the street, you have to be ready against armed and unarmed seizures, ready to protect yourself and to counter to face punches and kicks at close range. For these situations of danger our students are conditioned to use CLOSE COMBAT techniques by seeking in priority to strike in the sensitive parts and the vital points in order to get out of the situation to run and call for help or to neutralize. This philosophy of combat has no rules only blows in the face, eyes, ears, sex, knee, tibia ... we also insist on using the external elements which could be at hand and which would help to protect oneself (chairs, tables, bags, bins, etc.).
DISTANCE 2
The fight can happen in second distance, an aggressor pushes you, you push him and you find yourself at a distance further away from each other (boxing distance)... We think it is imperative to have a good base in FEET AND FIST , by mastering Boxing but also kicking techniques (taekwondo, Kick boxing, Muay thai, Karate, Kung-fu…) the only difference with our approach is that our primary objective will always be to use unconventional techniques by seeking to strike the knees, the sex, the shins mainly.
We protect ourselves with open hands AND not closed fists.
DISTANCE 3
In the event of attempts at projection or combat on the ground, we approach this approach to combat in 3rd distance thanks to the learning of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
Always in a logic of street defense, we will always seek to add a strike in the eyes or the sensitive parts before throwing or being thrown. If there is a confrontation on the ground, our automatism will be to strike in priority the dangerous zones before attempting a technique of submission for example.
